This song is dedicated to Hajime Miyasaka, who passed away from Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) at the age of 23, and to his mother, Hozue Miyasaka.
October 2, the day this song was released, marks the eighth anniversary of Hajime’s passing.
Although ALS gradually took away his physical abilities, it never took away his kindness, his smile, or the quiet strength with which he faced each day. Watching Hajime’s journey—and witnessing the extraordinary love, courage, and unwavering devotion of his mother, Hozue, and their family—changed me in ways I will never forget.
When I began writing this song, I carried their story with me every step of the way. Every lyric, every melody, and every note was written with deep respect and gratitude, in the hope of honoring the love they shared and the incredible strength they showed together. I could never fully express everything they endured, but I wanted this song to reflect even a small part of the hope, dignity, and courage that remained with them until the very end.
My greatest wish is that this song reaches anyone who is carrying a burden that feels too heavy to bear. If it can bring even a moment of comfort, hope, or the feeling that you’re not alone, then it has fulfilled its purpose.
I also hope it encourages more people to learn about ALS and reminds us all never to take the people we love for granted. Life is fragile, and every ordinary moment we share with those we love is an extraordinary gift.
This song is my tribute to Hajime, to Hozue, and to every family whose lives have been touched by ALS.
